Recreational Tour : Ganga
After working 9 to 6 for a while, you realise that you need a Recreational tour to find your lost self. You need to take yourself away from the hustle- bustle and the madness of the city to a place where you could truly relieve yourself.

The same idea germinated in me and I spanned on the highway for a recreational tour to Rishikesh.
I convinced a few of my friends to come along and we started on a Saturday from Delhi for the Journey.
We were on our Bikes and hence had all our needed accessories packed for our recreational tour.

These included: A Camera, Shorts, face masks (you would need this badly), booze, Climbing shoes, phone chargers, bike mobile stand(you need this for Google navigation), sun screen etc.  Since our recreational tour to rishikesh started at 6 in the morning, we had a wonderful cool and bright morning to add to our experience. We took the Delhi-Rishikesh highway which is the best route to go there. (Please avoid taking any alternate route as this is the best among the available 3 options.)  With all excitement geared up, we rolled down the highway for our recreational tour!

 THE TRIP:
Recreational Tour : The Ride
The highway was cool and windy and we drove for around 70 KM on single stretch. Only with a few congestion here and there we were easily cursing on 80-90 KMPH.  After that there was a small town on the highway which caused
some jam and stagnated us for a while. Suddenly the highway was converted to a busy shopping street where people were buying their daily stuff and we were dragging in the traffic. Though it reduced our speed but I would say this is also a part of your recreational tour which teaches you about patience. Never the less, soon we were speedin
g again.
After driving for 3 hours, we stopped at a local Dhaba to relax. We refreshed ourselves and had “parathas” and tea to replenish our energy levels.  It worked soon and we started again on our recreational tour.

Recreational Tour
Around 11 in the morning, we crossed the famous IIT kharagpur. The road gets a bit narrow here which attracts long congestion. Since our Google map was smart enough to predict it in advance, we took an alternate route along Ganga river. We travelled along the river for the next 8 KM and joined the highway soon.(The Delhi Haridar route gets severely affected by traffic on week-ends so if possible plan your recreational tour on a weekday).

After reaching Haridwar, you could see why Rishikesh is an ideal place for a recreational tour. You could see the endless mountains standing high and you have to drive on the serpentine roads with an endless fall on your Left side. It taught me that nature is beautiful, bold and fearless and you should admire as well as respect her at the same time.

OUR TENT CAMPS:

Recreational Tour : Tent Camps

Around 2 in the noon, we reached ‘Shivpuri’ which is a small place high on the hills.  It’s a beautiful place for a recreational tour.  Surrounded by mountains everywhere, we were accommodated in a tent which was just next to a flowing river. Tired from our 8 Hrs long bike journey, we went straight to the chilled river to take a dip. It surely was one of the best experiences of our recreational tour. We laid in the water with the fishes for around 2 hours and felt
all our tiredness being washed away with the chilled flow.  After being all washed up, we went to our camp had our lunch and geared up for
Recreational Tour : Waterfall
Rock climbing and Rappelling Activities.  I bet this is a must do for your recreational tour to rishikesh.

Recreational Tour : Climbing

THE ROCK CLIMBING:

Our guide anchored up on a 20ft hill and we had to climb the distance using all our limbs. It was a difficult challenge and took some time but finally the rock lost to our determination. Then we rappelled
down the rock where I scratched my hand but it was a thrilling experience. I feared falling down and my adrenaline levels rose but the sense of victory in the end made an unparalleled impact on my recreational tour.

After the adventure, we went to our camps again for rest. We had our evening snacks and played Volleyball and Cricket in the camp.  Tired with the activities, we had our evening snacks and booze and danced on the music with everyone. We clicked some pictures to make our recreational tour live forever.  All tired, we slept around 2 in the night waiting for the next morning to add more experiences to our recreational tour.

THE RAFTING SESSION:

Recreational Tour : Rafting
We woke late in the morning but the scene outside my tent was wonderful. There was a cool river and green mountains in the view.  Cold winds kissed us good morning and fresh smell excited us as Rafting was about to unfold new adventures to our recreational tour.
The camp organiser sent us all in a car for rafting and we drove for around 1 hour in the mountains again to reach our rafting spot – The Marine Drive. We were again equipped with helmets, life jackets and were given our oars to steer the raft. We went in a team of 8 and a guide gave us all the necessary instructions. Then we started off with the best part of our recreational tour.

The water was intensely cold and the waves were crazy! Our instructor ordered us to row forward and we started shouting 1-2, 1-2 and rowing on the beats. It takes great energy and team work to guide the raft and that’s the best team building lesson I got in my life- not in school or office but on my recreational tour. The rapids one after another tested our zeal and we tried our best to take on the challenges.  At one such instance, our raft went upside down and we all fell in the water struggling to breathe. I never thought of facing such a situation on my recreational tour. Though our life jackets prevented us from drowning, but the chilling cold waves originating from the rapids forced their way to our mouth, nose, ears etc.

Recreational Tour : Rafting
Somehow, we turned the raft again and the instructor started pulling us back again. A few rows washed with the waves so now the rest of the team had to put in more strength in rowing the raft.  Our instructor afterwards gave us command to stand on the edge of the raft at a rapid called ‘butterfly’.  At that time when I thought I was doing well a wave twisted the raft and I fell in the water again. Overall rafting was the best part of our recreational tour.  After crossing another few rapids like ‘Crossfire’, ‘Terminator’, ’Double Trouble’ etc.,  we were told to Jump from a Cliff!
Recreational Tour : Rafting

It was the scariest part of our recreational tour. Our minds were shouting not to jump and our guide ordered otherwise.  With numb mind and shaky legs, I closed my eyes and jumped. My heart thumped and the time seemed to halt.  After I while, I heard a splash and I was drenched in water again... But I was alive.  I screamed with joy and suddenly my recreational tour transformed me to a warrior ready to face a ferocious army.

With such moments, the rafting finally ended at Lakshman Jhoola and with it ended 2 hours of our constant struggle and belief to win the river. We then went back to our tents and packed to leave to Delhi again.

THE PROMISE:

Recreational Tour : Bike Wash
At 3 Pm on Sunday afternoon, we roared our bikes again to life with an unforgettable memory of our recreational tour lingering in our hearts and our soul.
Though this recreational tour has ended but I promise to come here again - another season, another year to see if can still stand your challenges and win upon you… Again!
